Privacy policy for shapcn everywhere
Last updated: 24 October 2026. Applies to the Chrome extension "shapcn everywhere", version 0.1.6 and later.
The short version: the extension collects no data about you, makes no network request, and keeps nothing about the pages you visit. The only thing it stores is your own settings.
In one line each. We collect nothing. We send nothing. We sell nothing. We store your settings and nothing else.
What the extension does on a page
When you point at or press a button, link or similar control, the extension looks at the small inline SVG icons inside that control. It reads their shape and color, in memory, to draw the same icon again with a short motion. When the motion ends, that information is dropped. The extension does not read the text of the page, form fields, cookies, or the storage of the page. It does not record which sites you visit or which icons you point at.
What is stored
The extension saves your settings with chrome.storage.sync:
- whether the extension is on or off,
- the hover style and the click style you chose,
- the strength (a number from 0.5 to 3),
- the list of host names (for example
example.com) for which you pressed "Off on this site".
Chrome keeps this data in your browser profile. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome copies it to your Google account so that your other devices have the same settings. That sync is done by Chrome and is covered by Google's own privacy policy. We cannot see this data and we do not receive it.
What is sent over the network
Nothing. The extension makes no network request. It has no server, no analytics, no crash reports, no advertising and no account. All of its code is inside the extension package. It does not load code from the internet.
Permissions, and why
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
storage | To save your settings (see above). |
| Content script on all sites | Icons are on every kind of website. The script reacts to the pointer and key presses, and draws the motion on a copy of the icon. It has no host permission, and it cannot make requests on your behalf. You can turn it off for any site from the extension popup. |
The extension does not ask for the tabs, activeTab, scripting, cookies, webRequest or any host permission.
Third parties
None. We do not share, sell or transfer data to anyone, because we do not have any. We do not use data for advertising, for credit decisions, or for any purpose other than the single purpose of the extension: to play a short motion on the small icons of a page.
Children
The extension collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the extension ever changes what it does with data, this page will change first, the date above will change, and the extension will not collect anything new without a new version that you can review. The history of this page is in the open source repository.
Open source and contact
The motion comes from the open source shapcn engine (MIT license). To ask a question or report a problem, open an issue at github.com/seahorsecastle/shapcn/issues. Please do not post private information in an issue. We do not need any to answer you.
